Canadian Woman Army Corps (CWAC) casualties of war

During WW2 Canadian women were allowed to serve in the army and not just as Nursing Sister. They were part of the Canadian Woman Army Corps (CWAC) Some of those woman paid the ultimate price for the service to their country. Here are a few of those woman who died in Canada.

Private Florence Eleanor Lewis (W 6533) died on July 31st, 1946 at the age of 23. She is buried at the Alberton Baptist Cemetery, Prince Edward Island.

Private Laura Mae Baker ( W22914) died on July 22nd, 1945 at the age of 30. She is buried at the New Liskeard (Harley Township) Cemetery, Ontario.

Corporal Mary Margaret Gallant (W 6565)died February 4th, 1947 at the age of 20. She is buried at the Charlottetown (St. Dunstan’s) Roman Catholic Cemetery, Prince Edward Island.

Private Mary Evelyn Harkans (4844) died on April 26th, 1944 at the age of 26. She is buried at the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery in Montreal, Quebec.

Private Olive Mae Wallace (W3248) died on May 11th, 1943 at the age of 21. She is buried at the Beechwood Cemetery, Ontario.

Private Andrée Dumoulin (W/3342) died on May 13th, 1943 at the age of 24. She is buried at the Notre-Dame Cemetery in Ottawa, Ontario.
